I reached Beijing at 6 o'clock on Sep. 12th, 2006, the same day in the last weak. I have come to Beijing for several times, so it is not special for me at this time. But it is still exciting for me, since I would come to MSRA as a visiting studend. Microsoft is still mysterious in some extent for most of the Chinese students.

  I checked in MSRA on Sep. 13th. It is a total of one week for me to stay here. I think it is necessary to write something or recall it simply. During these days, I have known many people, including my roommate, Mu Li, Henry, two collaborators (Bufeng Zhang and Lin Xu), and many many friends that I can't enumerate one by one.

  During these days, I read some papers about my thesis, statistical machine translation (SMT). It is the first time for me to set foot in this field, so it is difficult for me to do this. Everything is new and everything is start. Their system is coded by C# and Perl, unknown for me. I have no advantage. What I should do is just to study hard. Now I have basically understood the principle of SMT, so next work is to find what I can do in this field.

  Tomorrow I will attent the SMT group meeting for the first time and I should prepare some problems that I meet during my study. In summary, the life at MSRA is more substantial.
